A rifle scope can be intimidating!  They come in many varieties there are quite a few things to keep in mind.

First, the type of rifle scope you buy must depend on the kind of shooting you want to do.   A target shooter, for example, and a deer hunter would need different types of scopes.

To complicate things even more, rifles differ.  Each might have its own quirks and traits. Therefore, you can put the same type of scope on two guns and expect to find the same results.  Unfortunately, it does not work that way.   You have to tweak your scope’s settings until you hit the target the way you want to.  Another fact about scopes is that they cost a lot of money.   A scope with scope turrets and lenses can be exposed to rain, snow, dust, mud (and branches!), but it is, of course, not a good idea.

Dirt on the lenses and moisture ingress will negatively impact scope picture quality and reliability of scope turret adjustments.  In addition, there is always the threat that bumps to the scope might change the scope settings.  It might all lead to the missed shot of a lifetime.

We are sure you would rather tell the story of the one that did not get away!

Bought this for my husband and he loves it. Protects his scope from the weather and doesn’t fall off.

I have two of these, one first gen and the new NX. The retention straps are awesome! It’s spent alot of time on my back on my rifle this year. It’s waterproof, never falls off, and didn’t even get torn up by the oakbrush. Was a bit difficult to maneuver around with the turret system on my scope (I have a Leupold VX3I 4.5-14×40), and because of the three turret system, there’s always at least one turret covered by the slicker at some point. However, the thing is tough as nails and really does protect your scope better than the cheap bikini covers that come with most scopes nowadays. You won’t regret it, it’s one of my simplest, greatest investments in my hunting gear.

I had the pleasure of testing this product on my recent Pronghorn hunt here in Utah. As expected, they live in dry, dusty, brushy environments and my hunt was no different. The Slicker protected my scope from dust and debris as we made our way into position for a shot. The Slicker kept dust and brush out of my scope bell, allowing for clean, clear optics when the moment of truth came. The retention straps are a nice security feature, aiding the Slicker in staying put while on the move. As well as the built-in lens cleaners. The only drawback is with turreted scopes. I shoot a Vortex that has 3 turrets. The Slicker did not move far enough out of the way for me to have clear access to manipulate the turrets (I’m a long range shooter and hunter). The solution was to completely remove the Slicker for access. Simple enough, and for the average hunter with a non-turreted scope it’s a non-issue. It’s easily removed from the scope ends to allow access to the optics, and the straps keep you from losing it when doing so. Overall it’s a great system, and does a great job. Would’ve been nice on my elk hunt with the rain/snow we had! Definitely recommended.
